Smart Industrial Concept!

Holistic Approach with Digitalization of Industrial Processes and Applications for 2050 and beyond

The energy transition brings significant upheavals in various areas of technology and economy. These profound changes are caused by strong diversification of production (through hydropower, biomass, solar and wind energy), the growing importance of energy flexibility and buffering as well as the transition to sustainable energy systems due to climate change. The Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) has set out to meet this challenges through setting its strategic research focus on energy and environment.

The cooperative doctoral school SIC! focuses its research topics primarily on "Digitalization & Decarbonization" as part of an overarching strategy of three scientific partners, the Vienna University of Technology, the Austrian Institute of Technology and the Montanuniversität Leoben.

"It will complement the experience of industrial experts with scientific excellence. The focus is on science."
